🌸 3D Printed Flower Pot Using Fusion 360 & Ender 3
I wanted to learn 3D design and 3D printing, so I started exploring Fusion 360. After practicing basic tools and shapes, my mom gave me a small challenge — design and 3D print a flower pot!
This project helped me learn:
- 3D designing in Fusion 360
- Preparing files for 3D printing
- Using an Ender 3 3D printer
In the end, I successfully designed and printed a beautiful flower pot.
Supplies
Software
- Fusion 360 (for designing)
- Creality Slicer (for generating G-code)
Hardware
- Ender 3 3D Printer
- PLA Filament
Basic Requirements
- Laptop/PC
- Internet connection
Learning Fusion 360 Basics
Before starting the actual project, I first learned how to use Fusion 360.
- Created a personal account on Fusion 360
- Installed the software
- Explored the interface and tools
- Practiced making simple shapes like circles and cylinders
This step helped me get comfortable with the software.
Getting the Project Idea
After practicing basic design, my mom give me task to design a flower pot and print it using a 3D printer.
This became my real project goal.
Creating the Sketch
Every 3D design starts with a sketch.
- Opened Fusion 360
- Created a new sketch
- Drew the basic shape of the flower pot
- Added proper dimensions to make it accurate
Adding dimensions ensures the final print has the correct size.
Designing the Flower Pot in Fusion 360
Now it was time to convert the sketch into a 3D model.
I used tools like:
- Revolve tool
- Line tool
- Dimension tool
- Other basic modeling tools
Using the Revolve tool, I turned my sketch into a full 3D flower pot shape.
After refining the design, my 3D model was complete.
Preparing the File for 3D Printing
3D printers cannot directly read design files, so I needed to convert my model into G-code.
- Exported the design file from Fusion 360
- Opened it in Creality Slicer
- Generated the G-code file for the printer
This step converts the design into instructions the printer can understand.
Learning the Ender 3 3D Printer
Before printing, I learned how to use the Ender 3 printer.
I learned:
- How to load filament
- How to level the bed
- How to start a print safely
This was an important step to avoid printing errors.
Printing the Flower Pot
Finally, it was time to print!
- Inserted the G-code file into the printer
- Started the print
- Waited for the printer to complete the model
Watching the printer build the flower pot layer by layer was very exciting!
Final Result 🎉
After the print finished, I removed the model from the printer bed.
The result was a beautiful 3D printed flower pot.
I was very happy with the outcome because I:
- Learned a new software
- Designed my own product
- Successfully 3D printed it
Experience
What I Learned
- Basics of 3D modeling
- Workflow of 3D printing
- How to convert designs into printable files
- How to use a 3D printer safely
Future Improvements
Next time I would like to:
- Add drainage holes to the pot
- Try different shapes and patterns
- Experiment with different filament colors
