🪵 Americana Birdhouse for the Backyard (Simple DIY Build)

This is a simple Americana-style birdhouse built for the backyard using basic woodworking tools. The design was inspired by classic red, white, and blue seasonal colors, but kept simple for easy construction with standard shop tools.

This is a beginner-friendly woodworking project that can be completed in a small workshop or garage.

Materials

1. 1x pine or cedar boards (or similar softwood)
2. Exterior wood glue
3. Brad nails or small screws
4. Exterior paint (red, white, blue optional)
5. Sandpaper (120–220 grit)

Cut the front, back, side panels, base, and roof pieces using a miter saw.

Make sure both side panels are identical for easier assembly.

Attach the side panels to the base using wood glue and brad nails or screws.

Ensure the structure is square before moving on.

Secure the front and back panels to complete the box structure.

Check alignment before final fastening.

Attach two angled roof panels with a slight overhang to protect from rain.

Sand all edges smooth before applying paint or finish.

This build uses an Americana-inspired red, white, and blue color scheme.
