3d Printed Cable Clip

Do you get tired of having your phone charger slide off your desk every time you unplug it? This clip holds the cable on the edge of the desk.

1. 3D printer
2. PLA filament
3. Computer
4. Ruler/Tape Measure
5. Desk and cable you want to be held

Measure how thick the edge of your desk is from top to bottom. Keep track of the size in millimeters. This will make sure that the clip fits correctly.

Check how thick your cable is. Keep track of how thick.

Go to Printables.com or adjacent websites and search for desk cable clips. Pick one that lists a desk with close thickness to yours.

Click the design and download the file. Save it in a place that is easy for you to find.

Open your program and import the file so that the clip appears.

Lay the clip on its flat side so it sits fully on the bed. There should be a tool to do this automatically. (I am unfamiliar with the actual software needed.)

Ex:

1. Material: PLA
2. Layer Height: 0.2 mm
3. Infill: 20%
4. Supports: Off

If your desk is thicker or thinner than the design you are using, use the scale to adjust the size as needed.

Click Slice then save the file to your printer's SD card or USB drive, or send it straight to the printer if already connected.

Load the PLA filament and wipe the print bed with a paper towel so that it is clean.

Start the print and watch the first layer. It should be going down smooth and flat. If it peels up or looks stringy, stop the print, clean the bed and attempt it again.

When the print is done, let the bed cool for a couple of minutes. The clip should then come off easily. If it gets stuck, you can try and slide something thin under it to lift it up.

Peel off any thin strings or rough edges with your fingers, you shouldn't need to sand it.

Slide the clip onto the edge of your desk until it fits comfortably.
