Angel's Famous Meatballs

Supplies

Materials:

-Large Bowl

-Nonstick Skillet

-Measuring Cups

-Measuring Spoons

-Whisk

Ingredients:

-3 tablespoons olive oil

-1 ½ lbs ground beef

-½ yellow onion

-2 cloves of garlic

-1 large egg

-1 tablespoon of ketchup

-1 teaspoon yellow mustard

-1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

-½ teaspoon salt

-¼ teaspoon pepper

-2 teaspoons fresh parsley roughly chopped

-1 tablespoon unsalted butter

-1 beef bouillon cube or 1tsp better than bouillon

Prepare the Meatballs

In a large bowl, mix together beef, minced garlic, egg, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper and parsley. Don’t overmix, roll the mixture into 1.5 inch meatballs and refrigerate for 15 minutes.

Brown the Meatballs

Heat olive oil in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches, cooking for 2 minutes on each side, or until browned. Set the meatballs aside.

Cook the Onions

In the same skillet, melt the butter and add the onions. Cook until they soften and caramelize (about 10 to 15 minutes).

Prepare the Gravy

Prepare gravy as per packet instructions.


Simmer Meatballs in Gravy

Return the meatballs to the skillet and spoon gravy over them. Simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.

Garnish and Serve

Garnish with fresh parsley and serve the meatballs. Enjoy!


Reflection

I hope you enjoy these meatballs! These meatballs are great on their own as an appetizer, or you can serve them over rice or potatoes, or add them into spaghetti. If you have an extra, you can freeze the meatballs raw or fully cooked then reheat for a quick meal later. Cooking meatballs in a pan was a bit messy, so it would work well to bake them on a sheet pan.
