Backpack Battery Ebike System

This is my build idea for a versatile backpack mounted ebike battery system.

Supplies

You will be using a basic lithium ion brick battery

I use 13s5p battery packs for a 48v 13ahr battery in heat shrink.

Also a hydration style back pack.

Some 12 ga silicone wire

XT60 or XT 90 connectors

Bike Setup

I use seat mounted bike bag to house the motor controller, I tend to use cheap AliExpress sensor less units and find them indestructible.

In this case I'm using a bafang mid drive that had a blown factory controller with the 3phase wires extended up to the seat bag.

For the power wires, run the 12 ga two core up to near the headset and add the XT connector.

Backpack Battery Setup

Simply place the battery into the backpack, I found the hydration style is a good fit for the 13s5p battery I use.

I have a length of 12ga two core silicone wire that plugs into the battery and extends out to the controller power cable near the headset.

You may note the blue screen item, this is a cheap RC power measuring device, it records battery voltage up to 60v and accumulated power used in ahr or whr.

Ride

Now simply put the backpack on jump on the bike plug in the mating XT connectors and ride.

This system proves versatile when you have multiple bikes as only one battery can be shared by many, such as my fat bike and electric drift trike.

Another bonus is mass centralization

Ease of mounting into smaller frames where a traditional case will not fit.

Safety is also featured as in the even if a bail out the battery separates from the bike.

Only issue is the battery will run slightly hotter than in a frame mount, to this end I have slicker packs installed in the backpack for additional cooling..
