Battery Replacement on 2023 KLX 300R

In this intractable I will teach you to replace a battery on a dirt bike, I use a 2023 KLX300R, but the premises will be the same for all other bike

Locate Where Battery Is Stored

Locate the body panel where the battery is stored. It is stored under the seat. Sometimes it could be there but on this bike it is behind the body panel. Go ahead and remove the body panel or seat bolts. If you are having trouble finding wha

Locate Positive Terminal

Once you locate your battery on the bike weather it is under the seat or behind a body panel you need to locate the positive and negative terminals the positive will always ALWAYS have red on it or a + sign, Negative will NEVER have any red on it and will have a - over it



Remove Positive Terminal

Now you will see a bolt holding a cable onto the + terminal, unscrew it and lift the cord off of the terminal, you don't need to worry about a shocking surprise if the battery is dead, it will be dead because you are replacing it if it's not dead and you are replacing it. Why fix something when it's not broken.



Take Batter Holder Off If There Is One

Some bikes will have a battery holder mine does, if it does not you wont need to worry about this step but you will need to take it off, do not let the battery fall out of the bike

Remover Negative Terminal

Now for the negative terminal you can just unscrew it and take it off. Make sure the battery does not fall out

Take Out Battery Don't Drop It

  1. Now with all terminals removed and holder undone you should be able to take the batter off


Insert New Battery Correctly

Take your new battery and locate the positive and negative terminals, should be indicated by a + being positive and a - being negative.

Don't Drop It

Insert the new battery and don't drop it on your foot, that hurts a lot to land on your foot and can damage the battery

Put Battery Holder on If There Is One

To keep the battery from falling i recommend putting the battery holder on first

Put Negative Terminal on First

From personal preference put the negative terminal onto the battery first, just a cautious thing i do

Put on Positive Terminal

With the negative terminal on and the battery holder in place you can install the positive terminal, in order to not have a shocking surprise make sure no skin that makes contact with the batter is making contact with the ground, aka wear shoes.

Close the Bike Up

Now you can put the body panel back on and your bike is ready to go with a new battery.
