Battery Voltage Monitor Using Arduino and MX1BM1 Module (ADC Battery Measurement Project)
In many battery-powered electronics projects, it is important to monitor the battery voltage to avoid deep discharge and ensure reliable operation.
In this project we will build a battery voltage monitoring system using the MX1BM1 Battery Level Monitor Module and an Arduino microcontroller.
The MX1BM1 module safely scales battery voltage so it can be measured by a microcontroller ADC, making it ideal for battery-powered IoT devices and embedded systems.
Using this module, the microcontroller can read the battery voltage and calculate the actual battery level.

Supplies
To build this project you will need:
• Arduino UNO (or any MCU with ADC)
• MX1BM1 Battery Voltage Monitor Module
• 1S Li-ion / LiPo battery
• Jumper wires
• Breadboard (optional)
The Arduino will read the analog voltage from the module and calculate the battery voltage.
Understanding the MX1BM1 Module
The MX1BM1 module uses a precision voltage divider circuit to scale battery voltage to a level safe for ADC inputs. It also includes an enable-controlled divider, which allows the microcontroller to turn the measurement circuit on only when needed to reduce power consumption.
Pin functions:
VBAT → Battery input
GND → Ground
EN → Enable pin
CL → Scaled analog output to ADC
Wiring the Circuit
Connect the module to the Arduino as follows:
Battery Positive → VBAT
Battery Negative → GND
Module connections to Arduino:
EN → Digital Pin 5
CL → A0
GND → GND
The microcontroller will enable the module, read the analog voltage, and calculate the battery voltage.
Arduino Code
View Code at: https://matrixonelectronics.com/diy-battery-indicator-project-using-mx1bm1-voltage-monitor-module/
This code:
- Enables the module
- Reads the scaled analog voltage
- Reconstructs the original battery voltage using the divider ratio
- Prints the battery voltage to the serial monitor.
Testing the Project
Upload the code to your Arduino and open the Serial Monitor.
You should see the battery voltage printed every second.
You can test the system by:
• Connecting batteries with different charge levels
• Using a variable power supply
• Charging or discharging the battery
Applications
This module is ideal for many battery-powered electronics projects:
• IoT sensor nodes
• Wireless devices
• Battery-powered Arduino projects
• Smart wearables
• Battery telemetry systems
• Solar power monitoring
Conclusion
The MX1BM1 Battery Level Monitor Module makes it easy to safely measure battery voltage using a microcontroller ADC.
Its enable-controlled voltage divider makes it especially useful for low-power and deep-sleep IoT systems, where minimizing standby current is important.
