This is my design for a keycap. I specifically wanted to make one, as through 3d printing, we have the opportunity to make it biodegradable.

Supplies

Need access to Autodesk Fusion as well as access to 3d printer.

Making the Structure

Sketch a square shape of dimensions of 17 cm. Extrude it up to 9.68cm

Fitting Your Desired Structure

Create offset planes and make the sides of the structure fit into your desired angles. I used 80 degrees. make sure to mirror the same towards the other side.

Refining

Fillet the top edges and make the inside a shell with width 1 cm.

Making the Knob to Fit Into Key Switch

Start by making an offset plane and then sketch a circle of radius 2.75 cm. Then make this hollow + sign. Make sure to constrain these lines when doing so. Each line should have a maximum length of 1.26. Now finish the sketch and extrude it up towards 5 cm.

Optional Customization

If You want to include initials, make a sketch on the top surface and add a textbox. Type down ur initials in your desired font and finish sketch. Extrude it to a negative distance, but don't make it cut into back of the keycap. Desirably extrude to a negative distance of .5 or below.
