Book End

These wooden bookends were created to stylishly display and organize books. It can also store smaller items like bookmarks and stationery.

Supplies

1) 2x2 ft. wood (1cm thickness)

2) Acrylic sheet (any preferred color)

3) Wood Glue

4) Bookmarks

5) Wood Varnish (any preferred color)

6) Glue Gun and Glue

Cut the Wood Pieces

Using a CNC machine and using the attached file, cut out the needed pieces for the book ends. The measurements in the attached file are already enough to hold large books and magazines!


See the attached labels for your reference.

Glue the Wood Pieces

After cutting, glue together the wood pieces. Glue the slots at the far left and right ends of the base. Glue the barrier at the front end of the base, directly between the two slots. Glue the wall to the open side of the base. See the attached pictures.


Repeat the process for the second book end. Leave the set-ups to dry for at least 1 hour.

Apply Varnish on the Wood (Optional)

If you prefer your book end to have a colored finish, feel free to apply varnish on the glued wood.

Cut the Acrylic Sheets

Using a laser cutter and the attached file, cut the acrylic sheet.

Attach the Acrylic Parts to the Book End

Stick the rectangular part of each half of the sword into the rectangular slot in the square. Using a glue gun or super glue, attach the square acrylic to the book end's hollow slot.


Slot the rectangular covers into the wooden slots in the bookend.

3D Print the Bookmarks

Using a 3D printer, print out the designed bookmark designs. You can design your own bookmark.

Add the Bookmarks to the Bookend

In the storage space in the bookend, you can add the 3D-printed bookmarks!
