If you’re looking for a quick, cheerful project to add a little handmade charm to your holiday season, this candy cane crochet scrunchie is exactly what you need. With its playful twisted stitch pattern, this scrunchie gets its festive name from that classic candy cane swirl. The best part? You can make it in traditional red and white, or have fun with any color combo you love, like the pink and purple version I made here.

This pattern comes together in under an hour, making it perfect for last-minute gifts, stocking stuffers, or a cozy weekend craft session with hot cocoa in hand. And don’t worry if you’re new to crochet, this project is beginner-friendly, using simple stitches you’ll pick up in no time.

Written Instructions

Round 1: Make 62 sc around the hair band, end with in sl st in the 1st sc at the beg of the round. (62)

Round 2: ch 2, 1 dc in same st as ch 2, [ 2 dc in each of the 61 sts] repeat this around the hair band, end with a sl st in the 2nd ch of the beg of the round. (124)

Round 3: ch 5 with Pink yarn, leave a loop and remove hook. (Do not fasten off), join Purple yarn into the next st and make 5 dc, leave a loop and remove the hook. Now insert your hook into the loop of the pink yarn and sl st into the stitch next to the Purple yarn you just worked, so that the pink yarn overlaps the purple yarn, then ch 5. Now repeat this with the purple yarn.

Continue this sequencer till there are no sts left. To end the round sl st into the 1st st of this round. If you’d like to share your finished make, I’d love to see it!

Hope you enjoyed making this pattern.
