Interactive Desktop Installation “鴨雞“

It is a companion-type desktop pet in the form of a chick.

Our target audience is teenager who feel lonely, stressful.

Our design is motivated by the following factors:

  1. An electronic pet help them relive loneliness
  2. Reminder/ supportive words
  3. A night lamp provide comfort and security

In order to companionship through interactive response.

Here is our initial design sketch shows how it will works.(we will make adjustments in the final outcome)

3D printed the following chick parts and solder them onto the controller board .

Assemble the components of geared rotation platform and rack-and-pinion.

We referred to the example models from teacher, so we assemble them according to the original file.

Positions of All the Components

After we have confirmed the positions of all the components, we use blu‑tack for temporary fixing.

Pass the Wires

We pass the wires through the reserved positions in the model and connect them to the controller board.

Attach the Copper Tape

We decided how to attach the copper tape

Testing

and Test servo angles, lights and sound.

Fine‑tune

Fine‑tune angles, light, sound by programming.

Secure With Screws

After confirming everything works, secure with screws.

Coloured Its Body

To enhance its appearance, we coloured its body.
