I like colored t shirts, so I wanted to make colored lenses that would match my t shirts, if you follow this guide you can do the same

Supplies

  1. Glasses
  2. Ruler
  3. Pen and paper
  4. 3d printer
  5. Colored filament (ideally transparent)

Make Simple Measurments

Simply measure the width and height of your lens, mines are 60x45mm

Open Slicer Add Primitive

Right click on your bed, then go to add a primitive, then add a cube

Scale Primitive Then Duplicate It

Now you should scale the primitive to your dimensions

Then set the height (Z) to be either 0.2mm or 0.24mm.

Set it to 0.2mm if you are comfortable printing 0.04mm layers. Set it to 0.24mm if you are comfortable printing 0.08mm instead.

The difference is if the filament is more opaque, then you will want a thinner top layer. The first layer will be printed at 0.16mm, then after that its the top layer which will be 0.04 or 0.08.

Duplicate your primitaive after you are done

Slicing

First of all, set your first layer height to be 0.16mm, then layer height to be 0.04 or 0.08 depending on what you picked in the last step.

Make sure you have at least 2 bottom shell layers under the strength tab. Then set to infill to 100%. We don't want any weird infill lines.

If you have a transparent filament, I would recommend using it. If you don't then try using any clear filament you have as the 0.16mm bottom layer, then adding a layer of color on that, you can do this by doing a color swap by rightclicking the 2nd layer on the preview tab.

If you don't have any clear filament then you can try printing this still but you may find it to be opaque

Cut the Squares to Size

Simply cut the squares to fit on your lens, they should be thin enough to tuck into the frame.

Be careful; this step is hard because you're not wearing your glasses...

I cut mine terribly, so the ceiling to do better is quite high

Look Rad

I wear solid color tshirts so I have each color of the rainbow, unfortunately did not have time to make all of them, just these two
