Finally! After three years of trial, error, blood, sweat and tears I have finally created a combinational binary to BCD converter in Minecraft Bedrock Edition. It's something i've never really been able to figure out and have always been saddened by Mattbatwing's tutorial on Java for a serial converter. But, in that lodgical redstone video, he very briefly looks over combinational converters and basically explained that it was a decoder attached to a modified encoder. And well, after a few tweaks to make it Bedrock friendly, here it is! It can take one 8 bit number and represent it as three 4 bit numbers. For example: 10000000 = 128 in binary. But this machine can convert that into: 0001 0010 1000 = 128 in BCD. This means that I can finally display 8 bit numbers on a seven segment display - a dream I had never thought would come true.

How It Works

Here is the basic principle, named the "Double Dabble" algorithm. The red inputs is the 8 bit number, the blue outputs is the BCD number and the orange boxes are conditional adders. The conditional adders check to see: if number is > 4 do nothing. if the number is < 4 then add three and shift to the right.
