Crochet Pentagon AirPod Pouch

I’ve always had this problem where the USB cables for devices like AirPods are too short, causing them to dangle in mid-air while charging instead of reaching the tabletop.

Last year, when my best friend gifted me AirPods, I faced the problem of the short USB cable causing the AirPods to dangle in mid-air while charging. To solve this, I decided to crochet an AirPod pouch to hold the device instead of letting it hang from the electric socket.

This Pentagon AirPod pouch is easy and quick to make even for beginners learning to crochet.

To create this pattern, you will need the following materials:

1. 1 ball of yarn in the colour and brand of your choice.
2. Crochet hook – Size 3.25 mm (Recommended hook that I used)
3. Tapestry needle to weave in ends.
4. Scissor to cut off any excess thread.

Here are the abbreviations used in this pattern:

1. Mr – Magic ring.
2. Ch – Chain.
3. Dc – Double crochet.
4. Sc – Single crochet
5. Sk – Skip
6. Sl st – Slip stitch.
7. st/sts – Stitch/Stitches

Before we delve into the pattern, here are a few things you should know:

1. This Pattern is written using US terminology.
2. Ch 2 in the beginning or end of each row count as one dc.
3. The level of this pattern is beginner friendly.
4. This pattern can be made using scrapes of yarn.

Start by making 2 Pentagon granny squares

You can use different colors of yarn as I have used to make this AirPod pouch.

To make Pentagon Granny Square

To begin start with an magic ring

ch 2 (counts as your first dc), dc in mr, *ch 3, 2 dc* repeat from * to * more 3 times, end round with sl st in top of ch 2.

ch 2 (counts as 1 dc), *2 dc, 3 ch, 2 dc in ch 3 space*, repeat from * to * 3 more times, end the round with 2 dc, 3 ch, 1 dc in the last ch 3 space, finish with sl st in top of 2 ch made at the beginning.

ch 2 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc between 2 dc cl, *2 dc, 3 ch, 2 dc in ch 3 sp, 2 dc in between 2 dc cl* repeat from * to * from more 4 times, end round with sl st in top ch of ch 2 made in the beginning.

ch 2 (counts as 1 dc), *2 dc between 2 dc cl, 2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc, 2 dc between 2 dc cl*, repeat from * to * 4 more times, end with 1 dc in last sp between 2 dc cl, slst in top of ch 2 made in the beginning.

Holding both granny squares together with right sides facing out, join with 1 sc in each st around the three sides of the pentagon. (As shown in the pic)

When you reach the opening, continue with 1 sc in each st till reach the peak of ch 3, skip ch 3 space, make ch 4, continue 1 sc in each of the next sts till you reach ch 3 space (of the other side), 1 sc in ch 3 space, ch 50 or more as per your required length, 1 sc in ch 3 space, continue with 1 sc in each of the next sts, ending with a sl st. Faster off.

Your AirPod pouch is ready to use.
