Crochet Pie Piece DIY W/ Chart & Written Pattern

For Pi Day (or any other day), why not crochet a little amigurumi pie piece? It’s even complete with a dollop of crocheted whipped cream.

This tutorial includes a pdf of the written pattern as well as a crochet diagram.


Notes

3 sc = 1 sc in each of next 3 st

ch 1 at beginning of row + turning chain

do not stitch into turning chain


Key

ch=chain

sc=single crochet

st= stitch

sc2tog = single crochet 2 together

sl st =slip stitch

Supplies

  1. 3 colors of yarn (or thread or other fiber) - one for pie filling, one for crust, one whipped cream
  2. crochet hook (size depends on fiber choice & personal preference)
  3. stuffing (polyfill, yarn scraps, whatever you want)
  4. yarn needle
  5. scissors
  6. thread (optional)
  7. materials for your preferred blocking method (optional)

Crust

  1. ch 5
  2. *ch 1, skip ch closest to hook, 5 sc*
  3. repeat *-* 6 times (total 7 rows of sc)

Whipped Cream

  1. ch 5 (leave long tail at beginning for sewing)
  2. sl st to beginning chain to make ring
  3. fasten off, leaving long tail to sew it on later

  1. fold sides (rectangle) in half to find middle
  2. line middle of side piece up with tip of pie top
  3. sew rectangle to pie top

Sew on Crust & Stuff.

  1. sew crust onto bottomº, bring it up past the back a little to make the crust edge
  2. stuff before finishing assembly

ºif you have trouble hiding the contrasting color, try using thread with the yarn needle

The orange one has crust made of hemp or a hemp-like fiber.

The tiny key lime pie is made using (probably vintage) sewing thread (2 threads).


The fun crochet size stitch markers were inspired by this post, & made by me. :)
