Dalton's Most Mysterious Meatballs
Welcome! I bet you are here because you love meatballs just as much as I do. Meatballs and gravy are an easy and great way to add delicious flavour and protein to your meal. It's easy, quick and delicious. You can also add veggies, and my favourite, mashed potatoes. Give it a try!
Supplies
Mixing bowl, spoon, frying pan, sauce pot, oven, cutting board, cutlery, plates, measuring cup, -3 tablespoons olive oil
-1 ½ lbs ground beef
-½ yellow onion
-2 cloves of garlic
-1 large egg
-1 tablespoon of ketchup
-1 teaspoon yellow mustard
-1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
-½ teaspoon salt
-¼ teaspoon pepper
-2 teaspoons fresh parsley roughly chopped
-1 tablespoon unsalted butter
-1 beef bouillon cube or 1tsp better than bouillon
Recipe
In a large bowl, mix together beef, minced garlic, egg, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper and parsley. Don’t overmix, roll the mixture into 1.5 inch meatballs and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
Start to Cook Meatballs
Heat olive oil in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches, cooking for 2 minutes on each side, or until browned. Set the meatballs aside.
Saute the Onions
In the same skillet, melt the butter and add the onions. Cook until they soften and caramelize (about 10 to 15 minutes).
Mix Up the Gravy
Prepare gravy as per packet instructions.
Add Gravy to Meatballs and Onions
Return the meatballs to the skillet and spoon gravy over them. Simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
Final Product!
Garnish with a bit of fresh parsley and serve the meatballs. Enjoy!
Reflection
I highly recommend this delicious recipe, especially if you want something quick and easy to add to your meal. Not only is it a great source of protein, it also is complimentary to a variety of food additions. You can also use other proteins such as ground turkey, chicken, pork or venison instead of beef.
