Display Boards for Metal Tools That Are for Sale
I needed to sell off some of my Multitools; Leatherman, Schrade, Buck. so I decided to mount them on cards. I am going to be selling them at a Flea Market in a couple of weeks and I though this would be a good way to display and keep track of them.
This way I can show off all the parts that they have and whether they have any defects. Mounted on a card prevents any pinching or accidental cutting of the person looking at it. The card goes in a zip lock bag to prevent any of the above listed accidents. The card lists the name / model of the tool, price and any accessories that are included.
Supplies
A 20 inch by 30 inch piece of foam board from the dollar store
Assorted Zip Ties 6 inch or longer
A fine permanent marker
A pair of wire cutters or a (tie wrap wrench) mine is a Panduit STH
A hole punch
Some 9 by 12 inch zip lock bags. I got mine from Amazon.
Measuring and Cutting the Foam Board
The zip lock bags I bought are 9 by 12 inches, so I opened the multitool and its tools and placed it on one of the bags and figured out that a 8 by 9 inch foam board would work perfectly. I cut off a 8 inch wide strip off of the foam board, Then I made two 9 inch long boards out of that. I did this again since I needed four boards altogether.
Laying Out the Tool on the Foam Board
I opened all the tools on the multi tool and put it on the foam board and figured out the which way it would fit.
I then marked out places, using the permanent marker for the holes for the zip ties.
Punching the Holes
Using the punch, I punched out holes on the permanent marker dots
Mounting the Multi Tool
I put the Multi tool on the foam board and threaded a Zip tie through the two holes at the top of tool between the open Jaws. This helps keep the tool aligned on the board. Then I put a Zip tie across this top one. Then I fastened down the two handles, then the tools from each handle, be careful around the blades they are very sharp.
Finishing Up
I wrote the model name, make, and any defects on the board with the marker.
Then I placed it in the bag.
For pricing, I research the specific tool on eBay, take an average of the prices asked and take 10% off and then mark that on the foam board as well.
