Dovetail Drawers With the Router

Dovetails.jpg

You don't need expensive equipment to make nice dovetails with the router. I used a template from MLCS Woodworking that cost just $59, including both bits (dovetail bit and straight bit) and a brass bushing. The part number of the template (including bits and bushing) is #8712. You have to attach the template to a piece of wood. (You do that just one time.) The video in this Instructable shows how to make drawers with dovetails.

I have had a couple of people who told me that it is objectionable to put tile and caulk in a drawer because it ruins the aesthetics. If you share that belief, you can just leave your drawers untiled and uncaulked. I myself like to know that the things I make will live a long life, so I protect them when I can.

I don't have any connection to MLCS. I just like the product I got from them so I decided to describe it. (Go to ToolMarts.com or HValleyTools.com to buy the MLCS dovetail jig) There is a good YouTube video that shows all the details of setting up and using the jig.
