Fishtail Friendship Bracelet

Friendship bracelets are a fun and simple craft that you can do yourself or with a friend. They are so customizable and there are so many different styles you can create! In this instructable I will show you how to make a fishtail braided friendship bracelet.

1. Embroidery thread
2. Scissors
3. Tape

Choose three different colors of thread that you would like to use to make your friendship bracelet. You can choose any three colors you would desire. You will need two strands of each color so a total of six strings.

Measure and cut one strand of each color of the thread. Each strand should be about 30-36 inches long or about long enough for your wrist. Make all of the threads about the same length. You should have six strings total when you are finished.

Gather all of your threads and make sure the ends are lined up. Tie all of the strands together in a knot with a loop at the end of it. This loop should be big enough to tie when putting the bracelet on once you are finished with the bracelet.

Place the knot you just created on a flat surface and use a piece of tape to secure it to the flat surface. You may need a few pieces of tape to secure it. (You can also use a clipboard to secure it without tape.) Separate your threads so they are easy to use.

Separate your strings into two groups of three. Then separate the strings into two groups of two with each group having three different colors.

Take the outside string from the left group and bring it across to the inside of the right group. Make sure the strings are tight but not too tight.

Now take the outside string from the right group and bring it to the inside of the left group.

Now continue the pattern throughout the bracelet. Taking the left outside string to the inside right. Then the outside right to the inside left. Make sure your strings do not get tangled as you go.

As yo continue the braid, gently pull the strings to keep the pattern both tight and even.

Continue the pattern down the length of the bracelet. You will see the braid forming. If your strings get tangled, take the time to separate them.

Occasionally wrap the bracelet around your wrist to check the length. Continue braiding until your desired length.

Once the bracelet is at your desired length, it is time for you to tie your finishing knot. Tie a secure knot at the bottom of the braid to prevent it from coming undone.

Remove the tape and trim any unneeded strings. Leave enough room to tie your bracelet on your wrist. Tie it onto your wrist and you are finished with your bracelet!
