Glowing LED Noodle Earrings
These LED earrings are super simple to make and very eye-catching in low light. Perfect for parties, raves, festivals or just being fabulous at home :)
No soldering required!
Supplies
You will need:
- Noodle LEDs (like these ones)
- CR1025 coin cell batteries
- Earring studs with flat fronts
- 3D printed holder (more on this below)
- Super glue
Making the Battery Holder
I designed and 3D printed a battery holder which would snugly fit the smallest 3V battery I could find (CR1025).
There are two holes in the base for the noodle LED to fit through and it's small enough that it looks neat as an earring. The stl file is attached to this step for you to print your own.
If you don't have access to a 3D printer, all you need to do is make something which will hold the coin cell securely to the noodle LED and the earring stud, my best suggestion is duct tape!

Assembly
The 3d printed case is just the right size that sliding the two ends of the noodle LED either side of the coin cell battery will hold everything snugly in place with a pressure fit. But I suggest adding a few drops of super glue to make them more durable.
Glue the stud earrings to the back of the battery holders and leave to set.
The LED should light up as soon as both ends touch the battery, if it doesn't try flipping it around. We're not using a switch in this project to keep things small and simple, but you can cut out two thin pieces of hard clear plastic and slide them between the LEDs and the battery to act as a makeshift switch to preserve the battery life (see picture).
Go Out and Glow!
Once the glue has dried, you're all set!
Get out there and glow!
