Golden Coco Glow - Unique Coconut Shell Jewelry

Today, I’m going to make a beautiful necklace using coconut shell pieces 🥥 Just hearing that might make you think it’s not something easy to create, right?

And honestly, working with coconut shells isn’t the easiest thing, But the final result is so beautiful that it’s definitely worth the effort.

Because of the natural color and texture of the coconut shell, we can achieve a really elegant finish along with a rich, unique look. 🤎 Also, since this natural tone blends so well with our skin tone, I truly believe this necklace will look absolutely stunning when worn!!!

First, take a coconut shell and carefully cut a piece from it in the shape of your design (like the one shown in the photo). ✂️

If you have a different idea or shape in mind, you can create it in your own unique style as well.

Next, use a sandpaper to gently rub and smooth the coconut shell surface until all the rough and uneven parts are completely removed.

After polishing, you will be able to see a smooth finish, similar to the look shown in the photo.

Then, continue to sand the coconut shell a little more using the sandpaper until a beautiful natural brown color appears. 🥥🤎

Keep polishing until the surface becomes smooth and shiny to the touch.

Next, don’t forget to carefully smooth the edges and all sides of the shell as well, making sure every part is even and well finished. 🔄

Next, I will use cardboard to carefully cut out the base shapes for my necklace design. ✂️

At the same time, I will also cut the flower petal shapes needed for the design. 🌸

After cutting, I will smooth everything properly using sandpaper so the edges become clean and neat.

After that, I marked the spots where I needed to drill holes on the coconut shell pieces by adding small black dots.This helps guide the drilling process and makes it easier to place the holes accurately.

Next, I will use a shine coating like nail polish to carefully apply on the flower petals. 🖌️✨

This will help the petals get a beautiful glossy finish and make them look more attractive and polished. 🌟

After applying, I will let it dry properly so the surface becomes smooth, shiny, and long lasting. 💛

Next, I will take the larger coconut shell piece and cut it into smaller parts as needed. ✂️

Then, I will place the previously prepared cardboard base underneath the design and arrange the small coconut shell pieces on top of it carefully.

The cardboard is not for decoration it will only be used as a support structure to hold everything in place.

Finally, I will use glue to carefully attach all the small coconut shell pieces in their correct positions. 🥥

Then, I will leave them to dry properly until everything is firmly fixed and well set.

After it is completely dry, I will apply a gold color paint over the glued areas to give the necklace a beautiful, elegant, and premium look. 🖌️

This final touch will make the design look shine and attractive.

Next, I will take the painted coconut shell pieces and carefully fix them onto a cardboard base.

I will leave a small space around the edges and then trim it neatly to match the required shape. ✂️

After that, I will create a mold-like structure according to the design shown in the photo.

Next, what I’m going to do is pour resin into the mold I made and carefully fix the coconut shell pieces inside. This step adds good strength to our creation, and at the same time gives it a beautiful glass like finish. 💎

First, I take the two resin bottles. The resin I’m using has a 2:1 mixing ratio

So I pour about 30 ml from the larger bottle and around 15 ml from the smaller one into a cup, then mix them together well.

While mixing, it’s important to do it slowly and carefully to avoid creating too many air bubbles!

After that, I leave the mixed resin aside for about half an hour Once it’s ready, I gently pour it into the cardboard mold I made, making sure the resin spreads evenly all around.

While pouring, remember to keep the resin level the same on all sides, If not, one side might look raised or uneven after it cures. We want to keep everything nice and balanced for a clean finish.

After pouring the resin, it usually takes about 12 to 16 hours to fully harden. During this time, place the mold on a flat, stable surface where it won’t be disturbed!

Once it’s completely hardened, you can carefully remove it from the mold. As you can see like in my second photo, it will have a beautiful glossy and shiny appearance ✨

One more thing I forgot to mention 😊

After taking it out of the mold, lightly sand the edges using a fine sandpaper. This helps smooth out any uneven or slightly rough edges left by the resin, giving it a cleaner and more polished look.

After that, we take the larger coconut shell piece we made and carefully drill small holes around it. Make sure to create two holes evenly on each side so it stays balanced and easy to attach later.

While drilling, do it slowly and gently to avoid cracking or damaging the resin. Taking your time here will help keep everything neat and strong. 💪

Now comes the best part, assembling all the pieces we made together.

First, I take the larger coconut shell piece and use the holes we drilled to attach silver jump rings.

Then I connect the flower petal shaped coconut shell pieces we created earlier. You can arrange them in any pattern you like, just like in my first photo.

I personally felt this design looked the nicest, but feel free to get creative and make your own style. At the end, I added a few more silver jump rings in a chain like style to extend the design.

Then, I made a small hole either at the edge or center of the main coconut shell piece and attached a black cord with clasps. While doing this, make sure to adjust the length according to your neck size for a comfortable fit.

Finally, we get a beautiful coconut shell necklace 🌿💫

Just look at how lovely it turned out 😍 The natural texture of the coconut shell gives such a unique color and blends beautifully with any outfit 🤎
