Guided Anti-Tank Missile Prop

IMG_0238.JPG

In this Instructible i will be showing you how to make a small anti-tank missile. I have been working on this design for about three weeks and finally finished it. This rocket will be paired with a launcher in a future Instructible.

Supplies

Needed Supplies

  1. X-acto knife
  2. Scissors
  3. Cardboard
  4. Pencil
  5. School Compass
  6. Ruler (Optional)
  7. Hot glue
  8. Krazy Glue (Warning: Fumes will burn eyes)
  9. Paint (Optional)

Create Supports

In this step you will build four circles using your compass. Then on the four circles cut out four slits that are opposite each other. These slits will allow the fins to fold into the body freely.

Create Two Tubes

Here you will create two tubes that are about half the width of printer paper. These will be used to support the inner column.

Make the Fins

Here cut out four long pieces of cardboard. Each piece should be able to have two 1 2/3-inch lengths cut out of each piece. Then at the end of each piece create a small notch and a small hole for a toothpick. Finally, use your Krazy glue to glue just the ends around the hole and notch for extra strength.

Build the Main Structure

Here use one of the circles from the earlier steps and four of the premade fins to create the folding system. Take two toothpicks and cut each in half and cut off the points so they have flat ends. Put the toothpick pieces through the fin holes and mount it to the circle (!!!!make sure that the fins can freely bend up and down!!!). When the fins are mounted put a square piece of cardboard in the middle to support. Finally, use a very small rubber band (i used rubber band from braces adjustments) and feed it through the notches to create the spring. Then use the tube to create the main support and another one of the circles.

Build Outer Casing

Then make a small role out of cardboard that fits around the main support. Cut out the thin fin slits and give about a 1/4 inch of room on the top for free movement. Then create a cone for the top and glue it in.

Outro

In conclusion, this is a very easy and fun simple build. If you like this build, then please like and i will very soon make an instructible for a prop launcher. If there are any cardboard builds that you would like me to build then please comment.
