Hot Air Ballon
I've always been fascinated by the concept of flight, so creating a small hot air balloon was an exhilarating experience! The thrill of watching it lift off and dance in the air filled me with joy and a sense of accomplishment. It’s not just a fun project; it’s a wonderful way to understand the principles of buoyancy and hot air.
Supplies
- plastic bag or a mylar balloon (for insulation)
- Heat source (small tea light candle or a miniature alcohol burner. I melted a lot of them into 1 and used that). 6 tea
- Heat-resistant base (e.g., metal dish or sturdy cardboard)
- trash bag string
- Scissors
- Tape or glue
- Insulation material (aluminum foil or a thermal barrier) to line the interior of the balloon
- trash bag string
Prepare the Balloon Envelope
- If using a large plastic bag, ensure its bottom is open. Alternatively, a mylar balloon can provide better insulation.
- Line the interior with aluminum foil for improved heat retention and to maximize lift.
Construct the Frame
Create a sturdy frame using bamboo skewers or thin wooden dowels, forming a cross for stability. Connect the segments with tape or glue.
Make sure the frame can hold the bag open at the top and support the base where the heat source will be placed.
Secure Heat Source & Melting Wax
Attach the small tea light candle or alcohol burner to the heat-resistant base. Ensure it is securely positioned to avoid tipping.
Use a small metal or cardboard dish to catch any drips from the candle.
you need to take metal out of tea candel before microwave for 3 minutes. ( save them for later)
Use Ziplock Bag Top to Connect to Candle
Securely put the strings of trash bag and secure the candle to them or glue.
Light It and Fly
