How to Build a 3d Printed C02 Car
This car started as a school project using drawings and wood, but the teacher had made an exception for me because I knew how to 3D model. In this instructible, I will show you how you can do this yourself, with the modified 3d printed version.
Supplies
3D Print
- access to a 3d printer (or use a 3d printing service)
- filament
Others
- CO2 Cartridge
- Push rod
- Front wheels
- axles that are 1/8 of an inch thick
Tools
- Tweezers
- Light Mallet
- Bolt Cutter to cut the axles
3D Model
First, use whatever 3D modeling software you like (I used Onshape) to model whatever car you like, or find a model online and remove the wheels. If you just want to race, download the file at the bottom of this guide.
If you are modeling your own, remember to have a hole that is 20 cm in diameter, at least 3 mm of space around it, and 5 cm deep. Also, have axle holes that are at least 0.13 inches in diameter so you can fit the wheels. Also, for safety, put a area in the bottom to put fishing line through your car in case it goes off track.
Print the model that you made. I would suggest being there for the full print as errors with supports can happen, but it should be fine.
Clear the Supports
If you have a hollow design, use the hammer and the tweezer as a chisel and hammer away the inside supports before using the tweezers and snapping off the rest.
Assemble
Put the axles into the car and put the wheels on.
Race
Align a starting line a finish line and run fishing line through the bottom of your car, then insert the CO2 Cartridge, and activate the cartridge!
NOT a STEP(This Is the 3d Files)
