How to Create a Family Photo Album on Shutterfly

Creating a family photo album is a great way to organize special memories and turn pictures from your phone or computer into a physical keepsake. Shutterfly allows you to choose your photos, select a book design, arrange pictures, and add captions before ordering the finished book. Before starting your photo album, you will need to gather the pictures that you want to use. I recommend adding them into a special album. This is where it is important to decide what kind of album you want to make. Some example include family vacation, a holiday celebration, or a year of memories.

This guide will walk you through the entire process of creating an easy and stress free family photo album on Shutterfly.

The supplies that are needed are your photos and a laptop or desktop computer with wifi access. You can use your phone but it is much easier on a laptop. If you do not already have a Shutterfly account, go ahead and create one so you can save your project!

1. Open the Shutterfly website and create your account.
2. Navigate to the menu on the left hand side and select photo books.
3. Select the type of book, I chose "custom books".
4. Pick the size and style that you want to personalize.

1. Select "Design it yourself".
2. Upload the images from your computer or camera roll that you want to use for this book.
3. If using a blank cover without a design, use the menu on the left hand side to pick a layout.

1. Start by designing the cover.
2. Drag and drop a photo that represents your whole family and the memories that the book contains onto the cover.
3. This is a great place for a group photo!
4. Make sure to add a title.
5. Something simple like "Our Family Memories", "Family Moments", or "Christmas Vacation 2024" are great to pull the whole book together.

Each book automatically contains 20 pages, more pages can be added should you need them but for this guide, I will be leaving it at 20 pages.

1. Starting with the original 20 pages, navigate through the pages and pick each layout that you want from the menu bar on the left hand side.
2. Pick from pre-made double page spreads or place each page individually.
3. You can up the number of text boxes or pick more text boxes.

1. Next, use the left sided navigation tool to open the photo library for the photos that you uploaded.
2. Continue to drag and drop photos in the album one page at a time.
3. Arrange the photos in the order you want or group them by theme!

1. Once your photos are placed, double click on any text boxes that were combined with your layout.
2. A side bar should appear on the left hand side.
3. Using the side bar, type in the text that you wish to use.

1. Once you have the text placed, you can edit it.
2. Using the side bar, pick your text color size, and font to make your book even more personalized.

1. Once you are satisfied with your album, navigate to the top right corner and click "Preview & Buy".
2. On this step, Shutterfly with inform you of any issues within the book like text not fitting or low quality images.
3. You can click through the book and make sure there are no missing images and that everything looks the way you want it to.
4. Double check your spelling and that everything is lined up!

1. Once you have fully reviewed your book, navigate to the top right corner and select add to cart.
2. Select any upgrades that you wish to apply to your book.
3. Click "Add to Cart" again and proceed to check out.

1. Add the correct number of copies that you need.
2. Enter your address and shipping information.
3. Pick your shipping method and enter your credit card information.
4. Place order and wait for your memories to arrive!
