How to Curl Someone Else's Hair With a Wand and Make a Half Up Bubble Braid
I am going to be teaching how to curl someone else's hair suing a curling iron wand and finishing it off in a half up bubble braid style.
Supplies
Curling iron, Hair ties, Mini hair ties, A comb, A hairbrush, Hairspray, Heat protectant and Hair clips
Brushed Out Straighten Hair
First, plug in the curling iron and put it aside so it's not too close to you or whose hair you are curling. Brush out the hair that you are curling making sure there are no tangles. Spray the heat protector evenly over the hair and let it sit for 5 minutes to dry.
Parted Hair With One Thin Section Still Down
Next, part your hair into a section that isn’t too thick and clip the rest of the hair on the top of their head. This makes the final look more even and easier to curl. Spray the bottom layer with a small amount of heat protectant and let it sit for 5 minutes.
Curling the First Section
Then, take a small piece of hair about 1 inch wide. Wrap it around the curling iron making sure that it is curled away from their face and be sure to keep a safe distance from their face, ears and scalp. Hold the hair around the barrel for 5-10 seconds, depending on how tight you want the curls. Let it fall slowly into your hand to curl.
The First Few Curls/bottom Layer
Next, continue to curl the same size sections with the directions from step 3 along the same layer well making sure the front pieces are curled away from the face. Once the button layer of the hair is done spray an even amount of hairspray to hold the curls in place. Make sure before moving on that if any pieces are missed you go back and curl them.
Middle Section of Hair Down
Next, part the bottom layer in 2 sections down the middle to keep away from the middle section being curled. Spray again the heat to protect a small amount then let it sit to dry. Curl small 1 inch pieces, well keeping a safe distance from the person's head, ears and scalpel. Continue with the same routine of step 4. Once done the middle layer is done then spray the hair with an even amount of hairspray. Make sure if any pieces are missed you go back and curl them.
2nd Middle Section of Hair Down
Then, part the curled hair layer in 2 sections down the middle to keep away from the next section that is being curled. Leave a good amount of hair that will be used for the half up bubble braid, clipped to the top of their head. Repeat the same routine from step 4. Keeping the same size pieces of hair though the whole head. Once all the pieces are done spray an even amount of hairspray.
The Half Up
Next, brush out the hair for the half up pieces, but make sure to avoid the curled pieces. Using the comb push back the top layer into a small clear hair tie, before putting the hair tie on, pick out the front face framing pieces if desired. Make sure to keep a middle part if wanted. Adjust how tight or loose you want the half up to be.
Bubble Braid
Next, put a new clear or small hair tie in the half up ponytail a few centimeters below the first. The lower you put it down the smaller the bubble will be, the closer to the one above the bubble will be wider. Then pull on the sides of the hair in between the 2 hair ties until a bubble-like piece is formed and adjust to how you like.
Done Bubble Braid
Lastly, continue step 8 until you have a number of bubbles that cover the ponytail. Make sure each of the bubbles are evenly spaced out. If you want you can curl the last piece of hair that is in the ponytail that a bubble won’t fit in so that it looks like a part of the rest of the curls.
Final
Finally, once you have gone over to make sure everything looks how you want and be sure to check no pieces have been missed or if any need to be touched up you can then spray another even layer of hairspray over the back of the hair to make sure the curls stay in place. Now you are all done!
