How to DIY Repair Laundry Room Door Pet Damage
Our dogs have been pretty rough on our laundry room door. They had scratched through the panel in a couple of spots. I wanted to address this using scrap wood and other materials on hand.

For this project I used the following:
Scrap 1/4ā plywood
Trim Paint
Always practice safety. If needed wear safety glasses, hearing protection, dust mask or respirator as well as heavy work gloves for sharp pieces or edges.
Measurements
I started by measuring the damaged door to get the dimensions needed. The dimensions were transferred onto a scrap piece of plywood. I used a large square to make sure the lines were straight.
Preparation
A circular saw was used to make the primary cut on the panel. I then used a jigsaw to cut out the rest to make the āUā shape. The piece was then sanded to remove any rough edges and prep for painting.
The wood panel was dusted and then painted with leftover trim paint.
I had a little bit of bondo leftover from another project and used it to fill a hole on the molding of the door. The repair dried quickly and I sanded the spot down.
Installation
Installation of the board was straightforward. I held the board in place. The door hinge acted as a brace helping hold the board. The screws went in easily. Caulking was used along all edges. Once the caulk dried I gave the board a second coat of paint.
