Supplies
- 2*4 , 2*6 , 2*8 , 2*10 , 2*12
- Tool/ Tape measure, Square, saw, chalk line, Hammer, Nail gun, nails, impact gun, drill
- Compressor
- Fork Lift
- Scissor lift
- Nail Gun
Chalking Out the Building
This is the start of the build, and we have to look at the blueprints and get the measurements so we can mark out the walls with a chalk line, and we have to do this perfectly so the walls are not out of square.
Building the Walls
Next, after all the lines are chalked, we get the measurements for the height of the walls, and we start cutting them to the exact measurements. When they are all cut, we put the bottom plates and tap- con them to the concrete. When they are in, you measure out 16” on center, and you start building the wall and making sure it is square and level, and after it is square, you strap it square, so the wall doesn't move.
Putting on the Trusses
And then, after the walls are all put up, you start putting trusses, which are the roof and the angles, and these are made for you, but you still have to install them, which has to be so precise. You use a forklift and a scissor lift to put them on the marks, which are 12’’-16’’ apart. Once all of them are on, you put blocking in them and wind beams in to make sure they are secured.
Sheeting the House
Now you take the bracing off, and when they are off, you start sheeting the house with either zip or normal plywood, and you use an air gun for putting it on the wall. You have to cut the plywood in half on the stud so it can sit there sturdily. And you have to make sure they are accurate.
Tyveking the House
Now, after all the plywood is you have to seal the cracks with a sealant, tape, or Tyvek so the plywood or zip doesn't get water damaged or rot. We do this by taking the role of Tyvek and wrapping it around the building and cutting off the excess. That's how you build a house.
