How to Install a Rechargeable Motion Sensor Ceiling Light in 5 Minutes (No Wiring Required)

Adding a ceiling light to a bathroom, closet, hallway, or pantry usually means dealing with electrical wiring, cutting into the ceiling, or hiring an electrician. Fortunately, that's no longer the only option.

In this tutorial, I'll show you how to install a rechargeable motion sensor ceiling light in about 5 minutes using only a screwdriver. No wiring, no electrical experience, and no special tools are required.

For this project, I'm using the Tedmos Rechargeable Motion Sensor Ceiling Light, which combines a high-capacity rechargeable battery, radar motion sensing, adjustable brightness, and easy installation into one compact fixture.

Important: This light is designed for dry or normally damp indoor locations, such as bathrooms, closets, hallways, pantries, and laundry rooms. It should not be installed inside shower enclosures, directly above bathtubs, or in areas exposed to direct water spray.

Select a location where extra lighting is needed and the motion sensor can detect movement effectively.

The built-in radar sensor detects motion within a 360° coverage area at a distance of up to 16 ft (5 m). Installing the light near the center of the ceiling generally provides the best performance.

The daylight sensor helps extend battery life by preventing the light from turning on when the room is already bright. If you prefer motion activation at all times, simply disable the daylight sensor with the included remote.

Installation is quick and straightforward.

1. Hold the mounting bracket against the ceiling.
2. Mark the screw holes.
3. Secure the bracket using the included screws.
4. Align the light with the bracket and rotate it until it locks securely into place.

That's it.

No wiring.

No electrical box.

The entire installation can usually be completed in about 5 minutes.

Once the light is installed, use the included remote (up to 26 ft operating range) to customize the lighting.

Adjust Brightness The energy-efficient LED provides up to 550 lumens of bright, flicker-free illumination. Brightness can be adjusted smoothly from 20% to 100%, making it suitable for different rooms and times of day.

Choose Your Preferred Color Temperature Switch between three lighting modes:

1. Warm White
2. Natural White
3. Cool White

Whether you're getting ready in the morning or creating a softer atmosphere in the evening, it's easy to choose the lighting that fits your space.

When it's time to recharge, simply rotate the light counter-clockwise to remove it from the mounting bracket.

Recharge the built-in 12000mAh battery using the included USB cable, then twist the light back into place.

A full charge provides up to 15 hours of continuous lighting or approximately 60–100 days in Auto Mode (based on 5–10 activations per day), so charging is only needed occasionally.
