How to Make Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Oreo Cookies (15 EASY Steps)
In this instructable, I will show you how to make delicious brown butter cookies with chocolate chips and Oreos!
Supplies
- 16 tbsp. (227 g) unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp. whole milk powder
- 1 cup (213 g) dark brown sugar
- ½ cup (99 g) granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp. vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp. heavy cream
- 1 large egg + 1 large egg yolk
- 2¼ cups (270 g) all purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 cup (90 g) Oreo cookies
- 1 cup (170 g) semisweet chocolate chips
- Maldon salt for sprinkling
Prepare Baking Sheets
Line three baking sheets with parchment, one for freezing the cookies before baking and two for baking the cookies.
Melt the Butter
Melt the butter in a saucier. Add the milk powder and stir with a spatula.
Brown the Butter
Brown the butter for approximately 6 minutes, until it smells nutty and you can see brown bits at the bottom.
Add the Sugars
Place the browned butter in a large bowl and add both sugars. Mix to combine.
Add the Vanilla and Cream
Add the vanilla extract and heavy cream. Mix to combine.
Add the Eggs
Add the egg and egg yolk. Mix well for 30 seconds. Wait 2 minutes, and mix again for 30 seconds. Wait 2 more minutes, and mix for another 30 seconds.
Measure the Flour
Measure out the flour, baking soda, and salt into a medium bowl. Stir with a fork to combine.
Combine With the Dough
Add the flour mixture to the rest of the dough. Stir to combine.
Chop the Oreos
Chop the Oreo cookies into small pieces.
Add the Oreos
Add the chopped Oreo cookies and chocolate chips to the cookie dough. Stir to combine.
Scoop the Dough
Scoop the cookie dough onto a prepared cookie sheet with a 2 tbsp. (size 30) scoop. Freeze the cookie dough for at least 30 minutes.
Preheat the Oven
Preheat the oven to convection bake at 350ºF.
Prepare for Baking
Remove the cookies from the freezer. Place onto the other prepared baking sheets for baking.
Bake
Place one baking sheet in the middle of the oven and bake for 12 - 15 minutes. Remove from the oven, press the cookies with a spatula, and sprinkle Maldon salt on the cookies immediately after baking. Repeat with the second baking sheet of cookies.
