How to Make Fettacuine Alfredo
Pasta is a favorite among many people, ranging from classic spaghetti, a meaty lasagna, and even something as simple as garlic and butter noodles. However, one of my favorites to make is a nice fettuccine alfredo with grilled chicken. It is really a simple dish to make with many purposes ranging from a filling family dinner to a quick and easy date night dish. The skill required to create this dish is also quite low as it only requires boiling noodles, stirring sauce, and grilling chicken. It also cost very little as the ingredients can be bought for a very low price at your local grocery stores. Taking only about 30 to 45 minutes, if you follow along you will be on your way to a delicious home-cooked dinner.
Supplies
The ingredients that you will need for this recipe areas such
- 1 Box of fettuccine pasta noodles
- 1 Cup of heavy cream
- 1 Stick of unsalted butter
- 2 cups of shredded parmesan
- 2 Whole chicken breasts
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- Italian seasoning to taste
- Garlic to taste (whole cloves or store-bought)
Prep
First, you will need to begin by filling a large pot with water and letting it boil on medium heat. Putting it on medium heat rather than high heat will give you time to prepare your sauce before the noodles are done, and your pasta and sauce finish around the same time. Next, you will need to prepare your chicken by seasoning it with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Sprinkle a bit onto each side of it and then begin to massage it into the chicken. Do not press so hard that you break the chicken apart, you will need to gill it whole before you chop it into pieces for your dish.
Next, you will need to mince your garlic. Mincing garlic can be done anyway, whether
it is being put through a small bullet blender, hand chopping them with a knife, or even crushing it with a mortar and pestle if you have one. You can also choose to buy a small jar of minced garlic at the store. The way I chose to do my garlic is to mince it by hand with a knife, if your garlic looks something like the picture below, then you should be fine.
After getting your water boiling, chicken seasoned, and garlic minced, you can begin to cook your dish
Cooking the Meal
Once your water begins to boil you can put your noodles and occasionally stirring them, so they do not burn to the bottom of the pot. As your noodles cook, you can begin to start your sauce by adding your cream and butter to a saucepan. Be sure not to add your parmesan to this initial mix as it can burn to the bottom of the saucepan. Once your blend of cream and butter finishes melting you can add the cheese and stir it together. Now if you feel like your sauce is a bit too thin then you can add half a cup of more parmesan cheese to make it a bit thicker and heavier. Now you can start adding your salt, pepper, and garlic to your desired taste once your sauce begins to bubble, put it on low heat, and occasionally stir so it does not boil and doesn’t burn to the bottom of the pan.
Next, you will need to grill your chicken. If you do not have access to a grill then that is fine, you just need to get a frying pan instead of a grill. I will be explaining only how to grill the chicken in these instructions however After lighting your grill you will need to place your chicken breasts on the grill. You can slightly cut into it to check if the inside is cooked. Be sure to get nice grill lines as shown in the picture below. After you finish this you can cut the chicken into smaller bits to add once we plate our dish.
After you finish the chicken and sauce, your noodles should be ready to be strained out and put back into the pot so they are ready to be plated.
Plating and Presentation
After you finish your chicken, sauce, and pasta, you can begin to plate your alfredo. Get a bowl for each person you are serving and put a good helping of noodles into them. Then, pour some sauce over the top of the noodles so all the noodles are covered. Finally, you can add pieces of chicken to each of the bowls as a topping. Pass out each bowl with a fork and you have created an amazing dish to share with others.
