How to Make a Digital Calendar Using Scrap Materials
Have you ever been afraid of forgetting something important? You have to get somewhere or need to take something. My digital calendar is designed to help you stay organized and remember important tasks. It could also connect to your home and allow you to control different rooms or household items, such as turning on a light at a specific time. When you are not using this as a calendar it can turn into an actual picture frame. This project is a prototype made from scrap materials to show how a digital calendar could look like and eventually do.
Supplies
- Screwdriver
- Tape
- Picture Frame
- Wacom Drawing tablet (screen)
- Monitor Stand
Take Apart the Frame
Start by taking apart the picture frame and removing the original backing.
Prepare the Display
I removed the screen from an old Wacom drawing tablet by using a screwdriver. Only remove the screen and did not use the rest of the tablet. Since this is only a prototype, I did not make the electronic function.
Place the Display in the Frame
I carefully positioned the display inside the frame and made sure it was centered and fit properly.
Add the Backing
Secure the back off the frame. I used the original back piece of the picture to help cover and support the display. To make sure that it wouldn’t move I used the same metal frame tabs from the picture frame and added some tape to double secure it. This helped keep the screen from moving and gave the back of the calendar a cleaner finish.
Add the Monitor Stand
I used a monitor stand that was already available in the lab. I attached the stand to the back of the picture frame so that the digital calendar could stand upright on the table. Made sure the stand was secure ad balanced before moving to the final step.
Finish the Digital Calendar
I put all the pieces together and made sure the screen was secure inside the picture frame. I checked that the monitor stand held the calendar upright and made the final adjustments if needed. The finished prototype shows what my digital calendar could look like as a final product.
I used the prompt “Can you make a background for my digital calendar” into AI and it created this image. For the rest of the pictures i just asked to create a background for the pictures.
