How to Make a Pov’E

In this Instructable I’m going to show you how to make a prototype of smart glasses with a camera.

POVÉ is a concept for smart glasses that allow users to share their point of view during a live video call. Instead of holding a phone and pointing the camera, the person wearing POVÉ can communicate hands-free while the

other person sees what they see in real time. I created this prototype to demonstrate what the glasses could look like and how features such as a

camera, microphone, wiring, and charging system could be incorporated into the design.

Supplies

  1. Pair of smart glasses
  2. Small microphone
  3. USB charging cable
  4. Electrical wires
  5. Small electronic components
  6. Clear tape/adhesive for attaching
  7. the prototype pieces

Start With the Glasses

I started with a pair of glasses to create the base for my POVÉ prototype.

I chose glasses because the goal was to create a wearable device that could capture the user's point of view while still allowing them to move around and use both hands. I wanted the base to be glasses because they are something you can easily wear while doing everyday activities.

Add the Camera

Next, I added a small camera component to the glasses. I positioned it near the front so it represents the wearer's point of view. In the final POVÉ design, this camera would capture and livestream what the

person wearing the glasses sees to the other person's phone during a

Add the Microphone

Next, I added a microphone to the side of the glasses so you can talk to the other person while they're seeing what you see. This makes it hands-free, so you don't have to hold your phone while you're on the call.

Connect the Wires

I added the wires to connect the

camera and microphone together. In a finished version, these connections would be built inside the glasses.

Add the Charger

Next, I added the charger so the POVÉ glasses can be charged and used again.

This would give power to the camera, microphone, and the other parts of the glasses.

Put Everything Together

Finally, I put all the parts together and made sure everything was in place.

This is the finished POVÉ prototype showing how the camera, microphone, wires, and charger would all work together in the final design. In the future, I would like to improve the design By making all the parts smaller And build directly into the glasses. so they are more comfortable and so they could look like regular glasses.
