Prepare the Lemon and Sand Mixture
First, take one fresh lemon and cut it into two pieces.
After that, take a bowl or any suitable container and add sand to it. Add the amount of sand according to the size of the surface you want to clean. Do not use too much or too little; use only the required quantity.
Now squeeze fresh lemon juice into the sand and mix it properly until both ingredients combine well.
After mixing, it will turn into a thick paste. This paste works as a natural rust remover because the lemon helps break down rust and stains, while the sand provides gentle scrubbing action.
Apply the Paste on the Rusty Surface
Take any rusty or dirty metal item that you want to clean.
For example, I used an old aluminum frying pan. Apply the lemon and sand paste evenly over the rusty and dirty areas of the pan.
Leave the paste on the surface for a short time so it can work on the stains and rust.
Scrub the Surface
After waiting for a while, start rubbing the surface using the same lemon and sand mixture.
The abrasive action of the sand removes dirt and rust, while the lemon helps clean the surface naturally.
After rubbing, the old frying pan started showing its original shine again.
Clean Other Metal Items Using the Same Method
You can use the same paste on other metal objects as well.
I tested this method on an old rusty bathroom tap. After applying the paste and rubbing it for some time, the rust and dirt were removed, and the tap regained its shine.
This method can also be used on metal tools. I applied the mixture to one side of a rusty masonry tool and rubbed it properly. The cleaned side showed a significant difference compared to the untreated side.
Remove Burn Marks From Steel Pans
This natural cleaning paste is also useful for steel pans with burnt bottoms.
Many times, regular dish soap or liquid cleaners cannot remove stubborn burnt marks. In such cases, apply the lemon and sand paste to the affected area.
Leave it for some time, then scrub the surface. The stains and dirt can be removed much more easily.
