How to Use a Wood Lazer Cutter
This is how you set up a laser cutter
Supplies
You will need:
- A computer
- AutoCAD
- A laser cutter
- UCP application
- Flash drive
Object Creation
First,
Create your object that you want to cut out.
Changing the Colors
Secondly,
Color your object so that the lines you want cut are red and the lines you want indented are blue
MAKE SURE you only use the bottom line of colors and not the assortment of colors
Changing Line Weight
Next,
Select all of your lines and set your line weight to 0.00mm
Opening the Printing Menu
Next,
Do the command [Ctrl] + [P]
Selecting What to Print
Now change the [what to plot] section from [Display] to [Window]
After that outline your object to select it
Changing the Printer
Now change you printer to [VLS3.60/75] and select [Use Default Paper Size]
Setting the Scale
Then unselect [fit to paper] and set [1:1]
Moving It to the UCP
Finally click [OK]
Opening the Application
After that,
Open the UCP application
Check to Make Sure Its Right
Now,
The object that you made should be on the screen
It should look just like this if it doesn't the redo steps #2-#8
Opening the Settings Menu
Click on the [Settings] button
Changing the Tab to Manual Control
Go up to the tab that says [Manual Control] and click it
Changing the Blue Settings
Click on the blue color and change the [Speed] to 80% and change the [Power] to 80% and click [Set]
Changing the Red Settings
First deselect the blue color then select the Red color and change [Power] to 100% and [Speed] to 10% and click [Set]
Apply
Now click the Apply button
Then click [OK]
Seting Up the Work Plate
Now put wood on the work plate
Now Check the Height of the Laser
use the height finder to make sure that the laser isn't too close or far
It should look like this
Making Sure That Your Object Is on the Wood
make sure that the laser is on and use the laser pointer (it says Focus View) to make sure that your object is on the wood
Then Press Go!!!!!
(It should be green for you it's the big Play button)
