INFINITE Notebook From Upcycled Cardboard!

I was scrolling thangs when I saw this neat "infinite" notebook. There are other versions of a similar design throughout the 3d printing world, but the concept is simple enough that we can DIY it with recycled materials.

Supplies

thin cardboard (packaging or used spiral notebook back)

8.5'' by 11'' paper (I had to trim it a bit to fit the cardboard)

rubber band

Figure Out What to Cut

Food-Packaging-Notebook.png

If you don't have the cardboard backing of an old notebook, you'll have to cut a piece of cardboard to size.

To make the cardboard cover the right size:

  1. Take a piece of paper
  2. Put it on a large piece of cardboard
  3. Trace around it so there is a little space between the line on the cardboard and the paper

You will now have a piece of cardboard a little bigger than the paper.

I think food packaging cardboard looks awesome. The above image is from this TikTok for inspiration.

Cut Out the Cardboard

If you're using a cool food packaging box for your cover, cut it out.

Fold the Cardboard

Fold it "hamburger" style.

Fold the Paper

Also fold it "hamburger" style.

Nest

Put the folded papers on top of each other and put them onto the folded cardboard. Check for fit.

Apply Rubber Band

Loop the rubber band around the "spine" of your book. This will hold the paper in place

Extra Fancy

You can add two metal fasteners/brads so the round bit sticks out of the spine. Apply a rubber band around one brad, through the book, and onto the other. Now it's extra tight and fancy!

Note: After I tried this, the force was too much on the cardboard to keep it straight. Unless you have a giant rubber band, this step is probably unnecessary.

Done!!!

When you're done with a page or the cover, chuck it in the recycling. When you want to add a page, just lift the rubber band and nest another one in. Now you have the perfect journal!
