Hi there.

Im new to instrucatables so please be gentle with me... thank you.

I have been working over the past few years with iphone repairs and errors.

These are some of the errors i have encountered over the years.

(I work in a smart phone repair shop)

I hope this list is helpful to who may need it.

Any help or tips etc is greatly appreciated.

Please be aware it is not exact and is constantly a work in progress and i update the list as often as i can.

ERROR = FAULT / FIX / TIPS.

1 = BASEBAND FAULT.

-1 = BASEBAND / NAND / BAD LCD FLEX.

3 = FLASH WITHOUT SIM / REPLACE THE BATTERY OR MALWARE ON YOUR PC (TO TEST)

6 = ?

9 = BATTERY / DEAD NAND / LCD SCREWS IN THE WRONG PLACE / FLASH WITHOUT LCD / LONG SCREW DAMAGE / SOFTWARE GLITCH = RESTORE / UPDATE AGAIN.

10 = BATTERY NEEDS BOOSTING.

11 = RESTORE IN DFU MODE.

12 = FLASH THE PHONE WITHOUT LCD.

13 = BAD CABLE/USB PORT ON PC / UPDATE ITUNES.

14 = LCD PLATE SCREWS IN WRONG PLACES / FLASH WITHOUT LCD & NEW C/P.

18 = TRY DFU & NEW USB LEAD.

21 = BATTERY FAULT / KERNEL PANIC (LOOKS LIKE A JAILBREAK ON THE SCREEN = UNPLUG BOTH CAMERA'S & REFLASH) / WATER DAMAGE.

23 = WATER DAMAGED = CLEAN THE LOGIC BOARD WITH IPA.

26 = NAND MEMORY FULL=RESTORE IN DFU.

27 = UPDATE ITUNES.

29 = FAULTY BATTERY.

39 = check date &time & zone / exclude itunes from your firewall / Update iTunes / Change USB Cable & Port / try dfu.

40 = DEAD NAND.

48 = delete the iPhone software updates from your system then repeat the restore process, forcing it to be re-downloaded.

-50 = REINSTALL ITUNES / UNPLUGGED DEVICE TOO QUICKLY AFTER RESTORE.

50 = BASEBAND FAULT.

53 = BATTERY / charger port / HOME BUTTON (U10)

56 = SAME AS ERROR 9. 1345 = WIFI / NETWORK ERROR.

1671 = FAULTY LCD.

1667 = BASEBAND FAULT.

1723 = delete the iPod Photo Cache file & reflash.

2001 = FAULTY BATTERY / FAULTY BATTERY FLEX.

2003 = CONNECTION PROBLEM / CHANGE USB LEAD / CHANGE C/P.

2006 = TRY A DIFFERENT USB LEAD.

2009 = restart pc / re-install itunes / Deactivate iTunes helper / use another Computer.

2014 =?

3600 = You need to log in as the administrator / Verify the pc date, time, time zone. / restart both pc and phone / antivirus causing block / unblock the firewall.

3194 = FLAT BATTERY / BATTERY BOOST NEEDED / wrong flash file used / update itunes.

4005 = IPHONE MEMORY FULL = FLASH IN DFU.

4013 = TRY FLASH AGAIN / BASEBAND FAULT / FAULTY NAND.

4014 = NAND FAULT (SPITS OUT BATT FAULT & LCD FAULT WITH ONLY BACKLIGHT ON).

0XE8000013 = PROBLEM SYNCING APPS TO DEVICE = try flash again.

0xe80000015=?

0XE8800084 = UNKNOWN ERROR.

MORE ERRORS---

IPHONE FIELD MODE ENTRY.

THIS CODE OPENS YOUR FIELD MODE WHICH CONTAINS MOST OF THE IPHONE INNER SETTINGS.

RING= *3001#12345#*

UNABLE TO FIND PHONE FAULT WHILST TRYING TO FLASH =

=FAULTY BATTERY.

COULD NOT CONNECT TO ITUNES = VALUE IS MISSING =

FIX = DO NOT UNPLUG PHONE FROM ITUNES

= LEAVE IT ALONE FOR 10 MINUTES

= IT SHOULD GO NORMAL.

PHONE BOOT-LOOP- STUCK ON APPLE LOGO = AFTER POWER BUTTON REPLACE.

BOOST THE BATTERY =FLAT= (COMMON CAUSE).

CHANGE THE FLEX AGAIN. (FAULTY FLEX)./ SCREWDRIVER SLIP NEXT TO AN I.C.CAUSING CHIP TO GROUND-OUT, NEXT TO SCREW HOLE./ FLASH HANDSET.

how to clear the cache on an iphone.= (this trick clears all the internal memory error faults ONLY= that is stored on the nand)

***** i do this trick after every repair, just to clean up the memory.******

so if you have a weird fault (dead earpiece/ touch slow/ dead touch id, etc) after a screen change (for instance) try this before further diagnosing. it really does help alot. i have resolved allsorts of weird issues using this trick.

1=press and hold pwr button. (as-if to shut the device down, but DONT swipe to shut down)

2=release all buttons, then press and hold the home button until the screen flashes and goes back to the normal apps screen.

3= done.

iphone or ipad will only charge whilst the device is switched off or on only

= tristar ic fault.

=tristar ic will tell tigris ic not to accept a charge.

4G =NO SIGNAL / NO SERVICE / NO WIFI FAULT

#RESET NETWORK SETTINGS.

#AEROPLANE MODE.

#CHECK THE BLUE COIL (ANTENNA COIL) @ BOTTOM OF HANDSET NEXT TO RF PORT.

#CHANGE LOUDSPEAKER(ANTENNA ON LOUDSPEAKER) #CHECK DATE & TIME & TIMEZONE.

#CHECK FOR BASEBAND / MODEM FIRMWARE ID IS PRESENT.

#CHECK BLUETOOTH WORKS (WIFI & BLUETOOTH =SAME CHIP)

#FIBRE-PEN / CLEAN= THE TOP ANTENNA PLATE.

#PLUG INTO ITUNES & LEAVE FOR 1 MINUTE.

#MAKE SURE THE TOP GOLD (WIFI) HOOK IS HOOKED UNDER THE CHASSIS & PLATE SCREW IS IN TIGHT. #MAKE A PHYSICAL SHORT(BIT OF WIRE) & PUT IT BEHIND / UNDER THE TOP WIFI SCREW. ===========================================

5G =KEEPS CRASHING WHILST TRYING TO DIAL-OUT / DEAD EARPIECE / VERY LAGGY =

=MBF = BASEBAND IC

5g= BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH = (MEMORY OVERFLOW)

= FIX= FLASH IN DFU / LONG SCREW DAMAGE / faulty lcd.

5g = KEEPS CRASHING WHILST TRYING TO DIAL OUT & IS VERY LAGGY.=

TRIED A NEW LCD & FRONT CAMERA FLEX= STILL SAME.

DO SOFTWARE UPDATE = UPDATE IS THERE BUT WONT UPDATE.

CHECK DATE & TIME & BASEBAND ID NUMBER= ALL OK.

CHECK FOR IMEI NUMBER (CALL *#06#)= OK.

CHECK FOR READING THE SIM= OK.

HANDSET IS VERY LAGGY. POSSIBLE BATTERY ISSUE.

DEAD EARPIECE= RPLACED= STILL SAME. BOARD GETTING HOT.

# MBF = DEAD BASEBAND I.C

5C =AUTO BOOTS INTO DFU MODE

(TRIED A NEW LCD & BATTERY)

FLASH REPLIES WITH ERROR 4013 = BASEBAND / NAND FAULT.

5c=IPHONE WONT KEEP DATE AND TIME CORRECTLY= (COMMON FAULT ON 5C)

(EVEN AFTER MANUALLY REDOING)=

PLUG IT INTO ITUNES & LEAVE FOR 5 MINS.

(IF STILL NO LUCK = BASEBAND FAULT)

6G = SEARCHING / NO SERVICE FAULT =

= CHECK = BASEBAND ID NUMBER, IMEI IN SETTINGS,ANTENNA SIGNAL,DATE & TIME & TIME ZONE, SOFTWARE UPDATES,

= CLEAR CACHE, SIM READER IS WORKING,

= RESET NETWORK SETTINGS / AEROPLANE MODE.

= CALL *#06# = IF THE IMEI DOES NOT SHOW, BUT SHOWS UP IN THE SETTINGS = THE BASEBAND CHIP IS ON ITS WAY OUT.

6g = constant SEARCHING WITH NO SIM CARD IN THE PHONE

= POSSIBLE FAULTY SOFTWARE =

= FIX = REFLASH DEVICE.

6s = handset getting RED HOT fault after a screen change = (water damage on the coil on the logic board)

handset getting red hot to touch. (scortching hot) after a new lcd fitted.

tried replacing the front camera flex = still getting hot.

tried unplugging the rear camera module aswell = still getting hot.

handset keeps rebooting.

wifi is turned on but does not find any networks to connect to. (ACTING AS IF LOOSE ANTENNA)

the screen is causing the backlight coil to work overtime.

the screen is getting duller and duller and duller as the coil is working harder to compensate. = (causing the handset to overheat AND EVENTUALLY IT WILL BURN OUT THE COIL)

= water damage.

6s =APPLE LOGO FLICKS ON -THEN OFF - THEN NO DISPLAY - BUT THE BACKLIGHT IS ON.

(AFTER LCD & BATTERY REPLACE) = AS IF ITS A GPU FAULT.

FIX = RESTORE THE PHONE AS NORMAL.

iphone 6+ = very dim display with brightness turned up fully = (looks like a faulty backlight issue)

fix = check the accessibility display settings.

(i changed some of these settings and the brightness came back to normal, i cant remember which settings i played with)

7g = loud and earpiece screeching fault after a screen change.

REPAIR = disable battery saver mode and re-test.

7g = the device is stuck on the (black) apple logo,the screen will change brightnes and then wont go no further. no signs of liquid damage= no residue (all the indicators are white.) tried a new front camera flex, new lcd,rear camera module, new battery = still same. cleaned out the c/p.

= try another charger port= faulty charger port= replace the charger port.

FIX= REPLACE THE CHARGER PORT.

7g = boot-loop fault = check the home button flex is not torn on the lcd itself. / screws too tight on the battery shield or home button shield.

7g = home button does not work after fitting a new lcd,

but the touch id still works fine =

fix = loosen the 4 home button screws and re-test the button and clear the cache / faulty new lcd.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

7g = APPLE PAY WONT WORK AFTER A SCREEN CHANGE.

TOUCH ID IS FINE.

REPAIR = software fault = HANDSET NEEDS RESTORING / updating /flashing / faulty new screen =======================================

8g hard reset buttons = quickly press volume + then vol -

and finally hold pwr button to force a restart.

=======================================

8+ = ambient sensor is disabled after a screen change.

ambient sensor is disabled after a screen change = apples way of stopping 3rd party repairs again issue.

tried turning on and off the auto brightness = still doesnt work.

(in general-accessibility-display accomodations - auto brightness)

tried disabling the true tone = still doesnt work.

tried clearing the cache = still doesnt work. tried another front camera flex = still doesnt work.

tried another tempered glass (it covers half of the ambient light sensor hole) still doesnt work.

the ambient light sensor itself should have a white cover on it and also a black rubber surround on it = they are both there.

possible issue with the darkness or lightness of the coloring on the hole on the actual screen. .

(pointless to change = still will be the same with another screen)

THERE IS A NEW DEVICE IN CHINA THAT REPAIRS THE AMBIENT LIGHT FAULT=

SOME SORT OF RE-CALIBRATION TEST BOARD.

CYCLING ALL OVER=(UP & DOWN) = HANDSET OPERATING PROPERLY.

0.03ma = MEMORY OVERFLOW = FLASH IN DFU.

0.05ma = PWR I.C. fault

0.06ma = PWR I.C. fault

0.07ma = PWR I.C. fault

0.08ma = PWR I.C. fault

0.09ma = Pwr I.C. fault

0.24ma = GPU FAULT.

0.25ma = GPU FAULT.
