Make a DIY Drip Irrigation System at Home – Save Water & Grow Better Plants

You may be surprised to know that you can create an automatic plant watering system at home by using a very small and old item that is usually thrown away. In this project, we will reuse a simple plastic bottle to make a free and effective homemade drip irrigation system for plants.

In this step-by-step guide, I will explain how you can use a plastic bottle to build a simple DIY automatic plant watering system that helps provide water to your plants slowly and continuously without wasting water. This is an easy and affordable idea for anyone who wants to create a cheap drip irrigation system for a garden at home.

1. Plastic bottle
2. Plastic bottle cap
3. Old tube valve
4. Hook for hanging the bottle

First, take a plastic bottle cap and make a small hole in the center of the cap. The hole should be large enough to insert the old tube valve.

Insert the tube valve into the hole of the bottle cap and fix it properly. Make sure it is tightly fitted so that there is no air leakage from the connection.

Take the plastic bottle and attach a hook to the back side of the bottle. This hook will help you hang the bottle near the plant.

Close the bottle tightly with the cap containing the air valve. Fill the bottle completely with water.

Turn the bottle upside down and hang it above the plant. Due to the small opening in the valve, water will start dripping slowly, one drop at a time, directly onto the plant.
