Monkey Knot Fidget

This Monkey Fist Knot Fidget is a simple DIY project made using just marbles and string. It’s fun to make, satisfying to play with, and small enough to take anywhere. The monkey fist knots give the fidget a nice weight and texture, while the marbles inside help create a smooth, sturdy feel.

In this Instructable, I’ll show you how to make your own Monkey Fist Knot Fidget step by step.

Marbles

string (paracord is better)

Place a marble in between your fingers and take one end of the string and form a long loop by wrapping the working end around your fingers/hand. Keep the loops neat and parallel, leaving the other end hanging down. Do this seven times.

Take the working end of the string and begin wrapping it around the first set of loops, crossing over the existing strands. Make a small loop as shown in the picture. And again to this seven times.

Bring the working end around the outside of the first coil and back through the small loop you created. Keep the strands close together and avoid crossing them unnecessarily.

Continue following the same path around the core until you have a complete set of wraps surrounding the marble. Don't pull everything completely tight yet—you need room to add the next coils.

Slowly work around the knot, pulling the strands a little at a time. Don't pull one section extremely tight immediately—gradually tighten each loop so the pressure is distributed evenly around the marble.

Once the knot is tight and the marble is securely enclosed, tie the strings together and trim the unwanted string off.

Create two and combine them together by doing a knot in the middle.
