Outboard Motor Crane Base Holder for Sailboat

You can put the crane pole on a wood block cut from a 2x4.

And put the block on top of your bracket arm. (simple)

Lace the Cords Through the Blocks

Place a 2x4 block above, and a 2x4 block below the bracket arm.

Both blocks are connected by 4 lines of dyneema cord laced behind the bracket arm.

Make 8 holes in the top block with a drill,

And make 8 holes in the bottom block with a drill.

You then lace the 4 cords into the 8 holes.

It's like lacing your shoes.

Secure the Cords

You then tie 4 Zeppelin Knots on the top of the block with the 2 ends of each cord

Wind the 4 cords tight and lock them in place with a stick so they cannot unwind.

I also placed a 1x4 wood block on top of the upper 2x4 block and used wood screws to join them.

I also cut a circular hole in the 1x4 to hold the crane pole in place.

Tip: You can use the drill bit for installing door knobs to cut a perfect hole.

Finishing Up

A picture is worth a 1000 words, and in this case, I believe it helps to explain.

Today, I just lowered my outboard motor and took these pictures.

I hope you find this helpful.

Happy Sailing!
