PIR Motion Detection Using Arduino Nano and 16×2 LCD
This project uses a PIR (Passive Infrared) sensor, an Arduino Nano, and a 16×2 LCD to detect movement.
When the PIR sensor detects a person or movement, it sends a signal to the Arduino Nano. The Arduino then displays the motion status on the LCD.
Supplies
Arduino Nano
deshbot shield
PIR sensor (HC-SR501)
16×2 LCD
USB cable
Working Principle
The PIR sensor detects changes in infrared radiation caused by moving objects, especially people.
- HIGH → Motion detected
- LOW → No motion detected
The Arduino reads the PIR output through D9 and displays the result on the 16×2 LCD.
. Result
When movement is detected, the LCD displays:
Motion Status:
Motion Detected
When there is no movement, it displays:
Motion Status:
No Motion
Applications
- Security alarm systems
- Automatic lighting systems
- Smart-home projects
- Motion detection systems
- Room occupancy detection
- Automatic door systems
