Painted Decorative Wine Glasses
In this project you are making a wine glass decoration for your home!
lets start off with the things you will be needing;
You will need acrylic paint. What colours you choose are entirely up to you, but you will need greens, and white. You will also need a glass—usually a mason jar or a wine glass, which can commonly be found at thrift stores if you have none. You will need a paint brush to help make the petals of the flower and the leaves. Please note that when your glass is completed you should not wash it unless using a protectant on top of the paint, otherwise all paint will come off. If you used a protectant do not put in dishwasher, only hand wash it with a cloth.
Supplies
Supplies Needed;
-Paint Brush
-Wine glass (or Mason jar)
-Acrylic paint
-paint pallet or paper plate
-small glass of water.
Choosing Colours
Step 1. Choose your acrylic paint colours that you would think represent a flower well.
Paint Portions
Step 2. For each of your colours, open the cap and put a loonie sized amount (or smaller) of the product onto a paper plate or paint pallet.
Getting Started
Step 3. Now that you have your paint brush in hand, and your glass in front of you, you may start on the flower petals.
How to Do Flower Petals
Step 4. To do the flower petals, create an 0 shape, then make a little ^ at the top of it. Paint about 5-6 petals until you have a shape that looks somewhat like a star.
Washing Your Paintbrush
Step 5. Remember to swirl your brush around in your water to get rid of the paint. This is key to making sure your colours don’t smudge and blur together on the glass. Make sure to dry your brush off after, to avoid getting water on your glass and smudging up your whole project.
Centre of the Flower
Step 6. Now for the centre of the flower. This is really just dots of any colour, preferably yellow or white. Another technique is where you blend the centre of the flower into the petal, which requires the painted petals to be a little wet and not fully dried.
Spacing
Step 7. Now keep doing this until you have flowers scattered all over the glass. A few inches of space between each flower is key.
Leaves (optional!)
Step 8. For your leaf, you can use different shades of green to make it look more detailed. If you do not have access to different shades of green, you can use black or white to change the shade.
How to Make a Leaf
Step 9. Start with a “()”shape and slowly point it at the top to make a leaf.
Final Details
Step 10. Continue this process until most of your flowers have leaves on them. Not all of them have to have leaves on them but I took this extra step and did anyway.
