Plywood Lumber Cart
I built this cart by cutting plywood sheets as efficient as possible to not have any waste. This makes it cheap and very strong. If you're looking for a funtional weekend project; this is it!
If you want to build this yourself; you can find the plans here.

good luck building! :)

Supplies
you will need:
- 3 sheets of plywood (or other) 1200 x 2600 x 18mm
- screws: +- 30mm long and +- 50mm long
- optinal: wheels
tools:
- drill
- jigsaw
- track saw (optional but usefull for the straight cuts)
that's all!
Trace the Layout Onto the Plywood
Use the measurements from the plans and draw them out on the plywood sheets as shown.
Cut Out the Shapes
I used a track saw for the straight cuts, but you could do it all with a jigsaw.
If you want to save some time and effort; you could leave out the recessed cutouts for the horizontal strips and just screw these onto the flat front of the A-frame, just be carefull with the spacing if you do so.
Prepare the Cross Supports
When cutting out the shapes from the plywood, you are left with some big rectangles.
These can be cut into strips to use as cross supports.
You will need 8 small pieces from 10cm wide and 2 big pieces as bottom plates.
Once they are trimmed to width, you can cut them to the desired lenght (It doenst have to be the same as on my plans, just see what fits your space)
Follow the plans to predrill the holes. It makes it easyer afterwards to align the cross pieces onto the A-frames.
Wath out! the holes are not symmetrical bacause they have to match the staggered A-frames. The 3 middle holes will be off center by the thichness of the plywood... I learned the hard way, just follow the plans and it will be fine ;)
Pre-assembling the a Frames
You can only get 1 solid A-frame out of a piece of plywood.
The other A-frame is split up into 2 halves, you will have to screw these toghether to make another solid piece.
Use the overlap to put in the screws, stagger them from both sides.
Use screw no longer than 30mm or they will stick out the other side!
(The marked measurements on the plans are just a suggestion, it does not matter to follow this exactly.)
You will need to make 3 of these. The other 2 are in one piece = 5 in total
Assembling the Cart
1) Space the A-frames out evenly
2) Place the predrilled cross supports onto the front faces of the A-frame and screw them together, I used 50mm screws, but they could be longer (dont forget to check for square bafore moving on to the next piece)
3) Place the bottom panels onto the A-frame and screw
4) Place the fronts and screw them onto the bottom panel and A-frame
5) repeat on the othes side and you are done!
Optional Wheels
6) If you want to, you could add some wheels. Depending on the size of wheels you find, you might need some support blocks to accomodate for the height of the wheels so the they stick out from under the cart.
Make sure the wheels stick out enough, because when there is weight on the cart, it can sag a bit.
Done
Load her up and enjoy a very sturdy cart :)
