RESISTOR COLOR CODE CALCULATOR
The Resistor Color Code Calculator is an Arduino Nano based project used to identify the resistance value of a resistor using its color bands.
The user selects the resistor colors using two push buttons. The selected colors are displayed on a 16×2 LCD, and the Arduino calculates and displays the corresponding resistance value.
This project is useful for learning about resistor color codes, Arduino programming, LCD interfacing, and push-button input.
Supplies
Deshbot shield
uno nano
lcd (16x 2)
button (inbuild in shield)
Circuit Connections

LCD PinArduino Nano
RS - A4
EN- A3
D4 - A2
D5 - A1
D6 - A0
D7 - D13
RW - GND
VSS - GND
VDD - 5V

NEXT Button - D10
SELECT Button - D12
Other side of both buttons - GND
The buttons use the Arduino's internal pull-up resistors, so external pull-up resistors are not required.
Working Principle
A resistor has colored bands that represent numerical values.
The first two bands represent the first two digits of the resistance value, while the third band represents the multiplier.
For example:
BROWN – BLACK – RED
- Brown = 1
- Black = 0
- Red = ×100
Therefore:
10 × 100 = 1000 Ω
So the resistor value is:
1 kΩ

Conclusion
The Resistor Color Code Calculator demonstrates how an Arduino Nano can be used to convert resistor color bands into a resistance value.
With only two buttons and a 16×2 LCD, the user can select the resistor colors and obtain the calculated resistance value. The project combines basic electronics knowledge with Arduino programming and LCD interfacing.
