Raspberry Pi Hat/Helmet

Hello everyone, today I'm presenting a helmet based on the design of the famous Raspberry Pi logo.

To create it, I used circular geometric shapes, which were then combined to form spherical volumes.

Templates

Scissors/Cutter

Glue

Pencil

fuchsia/Red clear acetate film

Colored Foam (Green & Black)

Design

For this design, I was inspired by the Raspberry Pi logo. Its circular shape and raspberry-based design have always caught my eye.

So I decided to create a crazy festive hat to celebrate Pi Day, and I wanted to share it with you.

The design itself is based on a sphere with several internal spheres, which represent the drupes as in the original logo design. The raspberry drupes are carefully positioned to serve as helmet visors.

My goal was for the Raspberry PI logo to appear flat from the front, maintaining its original design, and then, when rotated, to reveal its volume, creating a cool 3D effect.

Here you can download the templates for the Rapberry Pi Cool Helmet, and then review step by step which one corresponds and guide you through the assembly.

Cut

IMG_20250427_110824_472.jpg

Cut out each piece of the templates separately; if the file is letter size, use the numbers to keep track of the order of the pieces when gluing them.

Transfer Pieces

IMG_20250427_122409_9712.jpg

transfer the templates onto the foam.

Use a pencil or marker to perform this action

Transfer Groups

Transfer all the templates to your preferred material; in this case, I used black EVA foam.

Please note that the templates for the base of the helmet are only for one side (left). You will need to transfer them again, but with the face turned, to obtain the other side.

Glue in Order

Arrange all the pieces in the order indicated and glue them in the established order

Leaf Sepal

IMG_20250427_142142_527.jpg
IMG_20250427_154800_771.jpg

Cut the sepal leaves using the template and rotating it to create two symmetrical leaves

Contour

IMG_20250428_115035_308.jpg

To create the outline and give it the edge feel of the original logo, cut the outline template in the same way as the base pieces of the helmet.

Foam

IMG_20250429_014604_09333.jpg
IMG_20250429_014609_17222.jpg

Glue the sepal and the outline contour to the main base piece of the helmet/hat.

Glue

IMG_20250428_121136_016.jpg
IMG_20250428_121052_599.jpg

Print the circular templates on adhesive paper, then stick them to the transparent fuchsia acetate.

Visor Patterns

IMG_20250428_133610_024.jpg
IMG_20250428_144549_449.jpg

Cut out all the pieces independently and assemble them one by one according to the template.

Paste

IMG_20250428_150325_409.jpg
IMG_20250428_153335_389.jpg

Remove the adhesive templates to leave the transparent fuchsia pieces ready to be glued and assembled.

Drupes

IMG_20250428_215801_524.jpg

Now you must join circle to circle one after another according to the order of the templates to form the spheres/drupelets

In total, 11 drupelets will be made, and you will have to use the guides to distribute them on the helmet base, that is, the main black sphere.

Holes

Now, according to the templates, make the holes so you can see from inside the helmet. Use the red border guides and make as many holes as you want that will give you good visibility from the inside.

Thanks

Conclusion:

This helmet is perfect for celebrating Pi Day. You can wear it for coding, to impress, or to attend any Pi-related event. Besides being stylish, it stands out for its design.
