Recycled DIY Precision Waterer

Here's how to make a recycled DIY precision waterer from an old spice bottle to deliver a controlled stream of water directly to your house plant's roots.

Old spice bottle - empty and clean, popsicle stick, thumb tack, knife, hot glue gun.

To begin the waterer we need to make a spike. Take your popsicle stick and draw a little rectangle. Cut the rectangle and then sharpen the point.

Now it's time to start on the waterer. Grab your thumb tack or needle and poke 2-4 holes in the bottom of the spice bottle (you might need to heat up the pin first to help I make a hole) Then take your spike and glue it on the bottom between the holes you punched. Now the waterer is finished! If you want you can also paint it. Just make sure not to paint the inside because it will chip and get into your plants.

To use your waterer, open the top, fill it up with water and then quickly close it. When you close the lid, it will keep the water from coming out of the holes in the bottom. This it called Barometric Trapping. Now stick the waterer near the roots but not too close because you don't want to damage them. Then open the lid. The water will come out in a steady stream straight to the roots of the plant. I hope you had fun making this project out of a recycled bottle and that it will help keep your house plants hydrated!
