Reusable Water Balloons

Regular water balloons are wasteful and harmful to the planet, while magnetic reusable water balloons are expensive, and the magnets can hurt if you throw them too hard. In this tutorial, make easy, inexpensive, reusable water balloons with just a plastic bag and a rubber band.

1. Plastic Bag

Cut the bag into a square or circle shape. Then, make incisions around the perimeter of whatever shape you made. Your shape should be about 10 inches long and each incision should be about 3 inches, but size is pretty flexible.

Take each strip you made with the incisions and put the together. Then, connect them together with a rubber band.

To fill your water balloon with water, simply dunk it in the water and wiggle it around a bit. Because small holes are left from the incisions, it will fill with water. Once it is full, it might leak a bit, but because most of the holes are at the top of the balloon and because the holes are small, most of the water should stay in. However, the balloon will let out more water on impact, because there are holes. Try dropping the balloon and seeing the water come out. If you squeeze the balloon, even more water will squirt out. If a lot of water leaks, make sure all the plastic strips are in the rubber band. Enjoy!
