Observing Current Problems
Before starting the design for this project I noticed that one of the moderns worlds biggest environmental issues was carbon emmision. This stems mostly from the use of cars and fossil fuels. Seeing this I decided that Vertical expansion would be beneficial for both humans and the Earth as well as preventing deforestation and displacment of animals world wide.
Researching the Problem
After identifying the problem I wanted to focus on, I found factors contributed to it. I realized that one of the main reasons humans take so much land is agriculture. So I decided to research alternate ways to grow crops that would take up less land and still supply humans with and adequete amount of food. This is when I came across terraces farming. Terrace farming could self irrigate and be built vertically instead of horizontally, preventing deforestation and fossil fuels being used to power irrigation sources.
Designing the Product
Once my research was complete I used Tinker Cad to bring my ideas to life. I designed and apartment complex in the shape of a terrace were roof top gardens would be built. The terraced shape increases surface area for the plants as well as utalizes forces like gravity to pull water down the levels through pipes and a Tri-Nature Water system, another machine I designed that can filter and generate water using solar power and key components of a Atmospheric Water Generator.
