The Burning Cart - a Ramen Stall
The Burning Cart is an initiative to promote the use of the pushcart/laari for the sale of slightly exotic meals. This idea helps one to promote their brand, revive their brand, or start a business when funds for a restaurant or food truck are not available. The benefit of using this model is that the base construction cost is reduced if one already has such a cart. The enclosure also leads to a sense of suspense for the passerby. It also allows the possibility of changing the upper structure as per the requirement. For example, if one is selling ramen on the cart, they may easily opt for selling pizza by changing the structure on the cart. There were certain principles that were followed while making this design for a ramen cart.
- Food should be served and eaten on a common table.
- In addition to taste and smell, other senses like hearing and sight should also be triggered.
- There should be some level of customisation available while providing the food.
Supplies
A socket drill, hammer, and screwdriver were used, along with nails and M3 screws for assembly.
Making the Frame
Using the 45mm square sections, create a frame using the frame and L brackets, M3 screws, and a socket drill. Connect all members using L brackets. Use frame brackets on points B and C.
Making the Rack
Cut boxes of 45mm x 45mm on the corner of the same longer edge of E planks. Nail planks perpendicular to each other as shown in the reference. Replicate the layout of Plank D and E on the bottom and F on the sides. Use L brackets wherever necessary.
Adding Support to the Rack
Add 5 f members on each corner of the inner perimeter of the rack. Use screws to fix them in place.
Adding Eating Platforms
Use hinges to attach members A and C to the rack.
Support for the Eating Platform
Fix the Pipe Bracket to the ends of the planks to provide support for them. Slide a dowel in between to complete the structure.
The Roof
Fix the roof on top of the frame using screws on contact points. Attach hinges to connect the front side of the frame to the shutter.
Shutters
Make a frame on top of the corrugated polystyrene sheets using the pinewood 10mm thick planks and frame brackets. Attach it to the skeleton using hinges.
Adding Curtains
Slide the fabric into the slits made in the polystyrene sheets enough that only the stitch comes up.
Lighting
Construct the lamp from the given file. Attach it to a wire in series, turn it on, and voila! you have your cart ready for selling delicious bowls of ramen.
