Trendy Crochet Purple Daisy Tote Bag
In this tutorial, I will show you how to crochet a stylish and modern tote bag using large African Daisy granny squares. Although I originally wanted to make a sunflower bag, I changed my plan due to available yarn colors, and this purple, black, and white combination turned out beautifully! It is a quick, fun, and beginner-friendly project.
Supplies
For this project, you will need:
Yarn: Acrylic yarn (Tunç Favori and Star Maxi) in three colors: Deep Purple, Black, and White.
Crochet Hook: Size 3.0 mm.
Scissors & Yarn Needle: For cutting and weaving in ends.
Making the First Daisy Square
The core of this bag consists of large, detailed granny squares:
1. Start with white yarn to create the flower center.
2. Switch to purple yarn to crochet the beautiful flower petals.
3. Finish the square by framing it with black yarn, turning the circle into a solid square shape.
Make sure your stitches are neat and tight.
Preparing All Squares
Instead of making many small pieces, I decided to make larger, bolder squares. I crocheted a total of 8 identical squares to complete the bag: 4 squares for the front side and 4 squares for the back side. This layout gives the bag a very beautiful, geometric, and modern look. Before joining them, I laid them out to make sure all the flower petals aligned perfectly.
Assembly and Handles
1. Joining: Use black yarn to join the squares together cleanly using a slip stitch or single crochet join.
2. Straps: Crochet two sturdy black straps using rows of double crochet stitches and attach them securely to the top edges of the bag.
Your trendy purple daisy bag is now complete and ready to use!
